Description:
The Software Tester will participate in supporting and testing the company’s flagship software system, Client Letter (see www.clientletter.com). Testing will be performed on web and client/server applications. Communicating with development, documentation, and support personnel as well as high-level management may occur daily. The tester will also participate in verifying a stable release by the scheduled deadline, which often involves putting in extra time outside of normal business hours. This position requires competency in the following tasks:
Responsibilities:
- Isolate, reproduce, and report deviations of the application’s expected results
- Provide accurate information and sufficient steps to reproduce the deviations
- Confirm that software specifications support the business requirements
- Document areas of the system that fail to meet business requirements
- Verify development’s implementation of code changes and fixes
- Create and modify test cases, review validity of the cases, and confirm expected results
- Provide feedback regarding software design, workflow, usability, and problem resolution
- Perform multiple types of tests on web-based and client/server applications
- Participate in maintenance of SQA test environment
- Take initiative to contribute to the SQA Team
Qualifications / Experience:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree, preferably in a computer-related discipline with at least a 3.0 GPA
- Two years of increasingly complex and progressive experience in performing application system testing
- Extensive hands-on full lifecycle testing of client/server and web-based systems
- Experience working with a team of testers, developers, and project managers
- Problem solver with a positive attitude and ability to interact with the team
- Excellent communication skills
- Strong self-starter balanced with desire to achieve team goals
- Experience using Mercury’s QuickTest Pro and script writing is desirable
- Proficient with MS Word
- Knowledge of ODBC databases such as Oracle, UDB and SQL Server is a big plus
- Must be focused, dependable and able to handle multiple tasks
- Ability to travel occasionally to customer sites by car, train, and airplane
